[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Have you seen a reality TV show called Cake Boss? Buddy and his crew make incredible edible cakes in all kinds of amazing shapes and sizes. I love to watch the process, from a plain sheet cake to a magnificent work of art.
While watching this show, I noticed that Buddy doesn’t create his masterpieces alone. He has an entire community surrounding him. From the guys who bake the cakes, to the artistic crew who can do magic with fondant, to the staff who sells all those sugary delights to the public, it’s not just one person, it’s a group effort. But when a customer sees the finished product, a dazzling cake, Buddy gets all the credit.
Blogging is the same. It’s your site, possibly your name on the URL, but no one can do it all, alone. You need positive, encouraging support. And as I like to say, blogging is always better with friends.

I don’t have a staff. I don’t even have a VA. But I have a community around me who lets me bounce ideas off of them, is kind with their critiques of my more hair brained schemes and who support me unconditionally. I couldn’t succeed without them.
At the end of the day it’s my name on my posts but I have a whole team behind me to get me to where I can hit the publish button. The best part is, they are also my friends.
If you want a better blog, you must surround yourself with people who can help, encourage and support you. This is particularly important on the days when you are struggling to find your voice and are ready to throw in the towel. You know, wind beneath my wings and all that.

Even in the mechanics of blogging, choosing colors, fonts, graphics, plug-ins and all the rest, you need a team behind you. And more importantly, you need friends.
Luckily, you won’t have to start from scratch building a community. There are so many opportunities available to you across the web.
Some groups I would suggest on Facebook are:
- BIG Idea Bloggers
- Bloggers: Learning, Growing, Encouraging
- Christian Women Bloggers Network
- Inspired Bloggers Network
- Learn To Blog Hangouts
Why not get started with one or several of these groups today? Start networking and building community because blogging is always better with friends.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask them in the comments.
